Abstract

Catalytic activity for acetate vapour (methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, 1-propyl acetate and 1-butyl acetate) of sandwich type adsorbent-catalyst CuO/NaX was investigated. Experiment was carried out in a fixed-bed reactor in the 130–310 °C temperature range. The influence of adsorption for all acetates was observed up to 180 °C. The temperature of complete oxidation (to up CO2 and water vapour) was dependent on the molecular mass of the acetates: it decreased from 280 °C for 1-butyl acetate to 230 °C for methyl acetate. In addition, some byproducts (ethanol, diethyl ether and 1-propanol) were found in the stream during the oxidation of ethyl acetate and 1-propyl acetate.
