Abstract

According to thermodynamic calculations, methanol andmethyl acetate can spontaneously interact with CuO. Thermodynamiccalculations indicate only the possibility of reactionamong system components and provide no information aboutthe reaction kinetics and the amount of the resulting product. The physical methods of analysis (GC-MS, XRD and STA)were also used to determine the possibility of methanol andmethyl acetate interaction with the catalytically active componentCuO. The results of analysis show that adsorbates andadsorbent-catalyst CuO / NaX are stabile during the desorptionprocess at a temperature of 200 °C. Methanol interaction withCuO was noted only at 270 °C and of methyl acetate at 280 °C.The range of these temperatures is much higher than the catalystignition temperature. So, there is no possibility of CuOreduction. The total catalytic oxidation of methanol and methylacetate would be reached at a lower temperature.
